As seen on TV

OVERVIEW
CHARACTER PORTRAITS AS WE KNOW THEM FROM THE SCREEN
Watching TV shows and movies are a big part of everybodies lives in todays society. We go to the cinema, we have the TV on in the bakground as company while we cook dinner and we watch it on the phone while on the tube. We all have characters we fall in love with, character we hate and characters that stays with us forever. This is a project where I wanted to make portraits of characters from shows and movies that I've seen, some has left a mark and some are iconic. I wanted to work with the same model, expression, light and camera angle and focus on what makes the character identifiable. Some portraits are scene specific and some are an overall look for the character.
Project scope:
- 3D models
- 3D illustration
THE DARK KNIGHT
CHRISTOPHER NOLAN'S BATMAN
Heath Ledger's Joker was what started this whole project. I was really drawn to the worn and sloppy make up that he wears in The Dark Knight. I felt it was a fun challange to work out with painting texture, a tool that I hadn't worked with much before at the time.
SANDITON
JANE AUSTEN'S UNFINISHED DRAMA
Sanditon is a TV show based on Jane Austen's last work that she never finished. As a Austen fan this was a must see for me. The show has a lot of different characters with a lot of fun accessories to work with, accurate to the Regency era. As a TV show with multiple seasons the clothing options and styles are many. I chose to go with scenes that stayed with me or clothes that I felt represented the character. Some actually didn't get that much clothes at all, like Sidney. Men in this time period wear all similar clothes, which is a little boring, so I chose to go with portraing Sidney in the scene where he walks out of the ocean after a swim. Much more fun!
HARRY POTTER
THE WIZARDING WORLD
As seen on TV was suppose to only emanate from what you see on the screen, but here I just couldn't. As a bookworm I couldn't elude from the fact that eye colours are a big part of characters in the books. The eye colour speaks of family herritage, connects different characters together and reveals things about the character. I just couldn't ignore that. So for my Harry Potter portraits I combined character features from both the screen and the books.
