OVERVIEW
DON't JUDGE A BOOK BY ITS COVER, THEY SAY
I love to read and I love pretty book covers, but not every story have a cover. In this personal project I make covers for just that kind of stories. It's a project about setting a tone, finding the things that symbolize the story and attracting attention.
Project scope:
- graphic design
- 3D modeling
- 3D illustration
GROUNDS FOR DIVORCE
THE LEMON TREE
The lemon tree has a significant role in the story and thus becomes a symbolism for the story. With the two lemons, representing the two main characters, growing from the same branch, it speaks of a shared past and the growth they make together.
As the title says, there are difficulties in the relationship. By using a sloppy, dripping graffiti-like font for the title, I wanted to capture the feeling of disintegration, but also of defiling something beautiful in a thoughtless moment. With the title in a yellow colour and dripping, it's also a play on the saying "when life gives you lemons, you make lemonade", suggesting that anything can turn into something good.
I chose to make the branch and leaves the same dark blue black colour to give it an unhealthy look, which is enhanced by the fact that there are so few leaves on the branch and that the leaves are falling off.
